Pink Gloves Boxing has changed my life. I’ve tried seemingly endless types of fitness and classes, and never found something I loved and would stick to. I’ve been boxing now for about 3 months, and can’t imagine ever stopping. I miss it on the days I don’t have class and look forward to classes every time. I would box every day if I could.
To put this in perspective, I was more than 200 pounds overweight. Morbidly obese. I wasn’t in the worst shape in the world, but I wasn’t anything resembling fit. In the last six months of changing my eating habits and three months of boxing I’ve lost about 70 lbs., and gained strength and muscles where I didn’t even know they existed. I can exercise for 3 hours at a stretch without killing myself. I have come to truly love working out, and getting fit. I still have a long way to go, but I know I’m on the road to get there, and am confident I will lose the rest of the weight while getting fit, strong, and in shape.
But beyond that, Pink Gloves has given me an emotional centeredness. The classes are fun, encouraging, inspiring, and challenging. I love the team atmosphere, with a group of women all striving to better themselves, and helping each other along the way. I love the goal-natured structure, with tiers to strive for, and challenges to overcome. I love always having something new to learn, finding out new ways to challenge myself and grow. In class we laugh, groan, complain, and work together to reach our individual goals. I want to keep coming not just for myself, but for my classmates as well.
For me boxing is not about fighting or anger. It’s about exerting myself in a way that challenges me to my go beyond my limits. It’s me against my limitations, and every day I overcome them and find ways to keep moving forward toward my goals. I’ve become addicted to feeling good, to getting fit. To growing muscles! Pink Gloves has been the structure that helped me get there, and I will be forever grateful. And forever boxing!
If I can do it, ANYONE can do it. And if I love it, I know others will too. It’s the most fun and exciting way to get in shape that I’ve ever encountered. And I just want to share it with the world, and help others find the joy I’ve found in boxing. I hope to see you here at Pink Gloves!
